Bill et al created a fantastic model of the house—with the surrounding forest, water wheel, complete with removable roof and dressing inside—a miniature wonderland. Readers often ask about this creepy old cottage where the witches lived in the movie and whether it’s real. The answer, as you can probably tell by the screenshot of it above, is no. The classic 1993 film follows Max Dennison (Omri Katz), his little sister Dani (Thora Birch), and his crush Allison (Vinessa Shaw) after they unintentionally resurrect the evil Sanderson sisters on Halloween night.

I also quite like the tree, which has a LEGO Friends-inspired design. There are plenty of great details here, and it looks like the LEGO Ideas team have done a spectacular job capturing plenty of details from the movie and squeezing it into the build. The Sanderson Sisters’ cottage itself looks like a really solid build, with accurate architecture and opens up to reveal the interiors, which include the museum gift shop. "Bombarding", Lego are over-saturating the market, and quality control has dropped as they are stretching themselves too thin. Added to the supply issues during Covid, where perhaps if they produced less sets and more stock it would've been better. I could see that hair/witch hat combo being used in Harry Potter.

And here’s the completed model which features a rather large re-creation of the Sanderson Museum/Cottage. Here’s a look at Sarah, Winnifred and Mary Sanderson which are just so much fun, and their minifigures will no doubt delight Hocus Pocus fans. 21341 Hocus Pocus The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage will be released on 1 July 2023 for LEGO VIPs (free to join!), and is a lot of fun, especially if you grew up being enthralled by the Sanderson sisters and really enjoy Halloween. Prepare to be bewitched with Hocus Pocus The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage, a fun and spooky LEGO set based on cult Halloween classic, Hocus Pocus! If Home Alone is the ultimate Christmas set, this set is hands down the ultimate Halloween set. To aid the display of the minifigures, there’s even this gate and wall section where all 6 minifigures can be proudly displayed.
Build Process
Assessing value often depends on your emotional attachement to the content. In the case of this set, you might have a tremendous fondless for the film or even for Halloween in general, making this set extremely appealing. Thankfully, we do have some objective measurements to use, but they do not look favorably upon this set.

This 2023 version of the building isn’t cheap at $399.99, but it’s huge and gorgeous. It comes with 4,837 pieces, plus eight minifigures comprised of four coupoles from Disney royalty history. You get Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White and Prince Florian, Tiana and Prince Naveen, as well as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. In 1653, in Salem, the teenage Winifred Sanderson is banned from the village by the local Reverend Traske after refusing to get married with John Pritchett.

It was always a bit of a cult classic, people really enjoy the film but not to the point that a lot will spend this much on this set. The second film wasn't that great either which won't help sales. They've done a great job, but they could have gone with a more standard witches house without having the added cost of the licensing for Disney. Having seen the film last year (or was it the year before that?), I can safely say I recognize some of the details, half of the characters and not much else.Weird that the minifigs get new hair pieces. I guess they're needed, but I thought Ideas sets aren't allowed new part moulds? Let's see them offload those parts into regular sets or maybe even CMFs to technically fullfill that restriction like how the Steamboat Willie minifigs were technically also in the CMF series at the time.Looks nice though. Great for those fans of the film who watch it again and again and again and again...
From the black-flame candle, to Mary’s vacuum, the details are the star of the show. While the roof and exterior of the home are also beautiful, they actually overtake the model, creating a very closed off feeling. This model doesn’t lend its self to either play or display well since many of the elements are both fragile and inaccessible. Of course, you can still stroll the streets and pose for pictures outside.
“Hocus Pocus” Scenes Filmed at the Warner Bros. Ranch
In Bag 7, we build a small alcove on the left side of the second floor. This comes together easily and adds some visual interest to the outside moreso than to the inside. We do get to add a cute little skeleton on the inside so that’s fun. We also add some details to the upstairs like a spinning wheel, some wall panels with stickers of hanging herbs, a bookshelf, brooms, a large bed that the sisters presumably share, and my favorite, Mary Sanderson’s flying vacuum. We don’t really see the upstairs in the movie, so clearly some creative license has been taken here, but the additions are fun and are a way to add some more Easter eggs to the set. 300 years ago, in 1693, in Salem, Massachusetts, the Sanderson sisters were hanged by the population of Salem after a boy named Thackery Binx tried to stop the witches and was turned into an immortal black cat while saving his sister Emily.
We thought this only referred to the ghosts of baseball players, but apparently it refers to LEGO as well. 21341 Hocus Pocus The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage will be released on 1 July 2023 for LEGO VIPs, and will be exclusive to LEGO.com. Of course, there’s the book of spells encased in glass.
There is also a lot of fun interior décor that is added in this bag. The cauldron with its potion, museum elements such as the counter, checkout area and some of the roped off areas. There are lots of potions and candles tucked away on the shelves that add detail, but I’m curious if it will be seen once the walls and roof are assembled. Available now with LEGO VIP (sign up here for free), this Eldorado Fortress set harkens back to set with the same name that was released in 1989. As such, this one is aimed at the 18+ crowd and comes with 2,509 pieces, as well as eight minifigures.
While you may not be able to summon witches by lighting a black flame candle, you can step into the world of "Hocus Pocus" by visiting Salem, Massachusetts. The Dennison family's picturesque house is a popular tourist attraction, though, it's in a residential area and isn't officially open to tourists. Yes, the tower is awesome, but this set is really for minifigure fans — it comes with 31 of them!
